A leetspeak expression, used to express joy, particularly that felt during success or victory. Originated within the online gaming community, it was chosen as the 2007 Word of the Year in a poll taken by Merriam-Webster's Web site. It has similar usage as "Hooray". Some theories suggest that it is a blend of wow and loot (as might be exclaimed during a role-playing game), an acronym for “we owned the other team”, or a corruption of root (as might be exclaimed by a hacker on obtaining root access).
